After the LLM Moment

We are inside the LLM moment. That makes it hard to see past it. But 110+ papers from 2024–2025 point at a consistent direction: the next production frontier isn't bigger language models.

What's Coming

Neuro-symbolic systems — reasoning that combines neural flexibility with symbolic guarantees. Auditable. Interpretable. Slower to build but faster to trust.

World models — systems that maintain an internal model of state and plan against it. Less "predict the next token," more "simulate the consequence."

Embodied intelligence — the convergence of perception, language, and action. Robotics is the testbed. Production software is the next application surface.

What This Means for Engineers

None of these replace LLMs tomorrow. They're production-ready in narrow domains, experimental elsewhere.

The practical implication: build your AI stack with swappable reasoning layers. The model you're using today is not the one you'll be using in three years.
